Can you spend 30 minutes with God?
Can you do it on a park bench?

Two months after I started park benching, my mother commented, “You need to start a movement.” Two months after that, my final paper for a 2-year course studying the Catechism of the Catholic Church was returned to me. I had written about park bench prayer in my paper. Whoever read my paper scribbled at the bottom, “I love your park bench prayer—teach it to others!”

Encouraging comments, but it wasn’t until I was closing in on my one-year anniversary of park bench prayer that I felt compelled to build a website and share my mission. “Starting a movement” might be a bit ambitious, but I would love for you to experience the power and peace of park bench prayer for yourself. I am also looking to build a park benching posse to help get more park benches sanctified. There are far more park benches, even within the Twin Cities area, than I will ever be able to get to myself! (Trust me, once you start looking for park benches, you will notice them everywhere!)

Simply—

  • Spend 30 minutes on a park bench with the Lord in prayer.
  • End your time humbly asking God to sanctify the park bench and grant His holy peace to all those who sit there. Optional: bless the bench with holy water.
  • Optional but highly appreciated: take a photo of your park bench (vertical/portrait orientation, not landscape) and submit it to this website so it can be put on the map and added to my prayer partner photo gallery!
